Press release

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again to have its exclusive UK and Ireland premiere on Sky Cinema

27 September 2016 - Get ready to take a walk on the wild side: Sky Cinema celebrates 40 years of Rocky Horror with the exclusive UK and Ireland premiere of The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again.

The feature-length reimagining of the 1975 cult classic will be available for the first time anywhere in the UK and Ireland from Friday 28 October on Sky Cinema - just in time for Halloween.

Sky Cinema launched on 8 July replacing Sky Movies, allowing film fans to enjoy the biggest and best movies all with new and improved HD as standard and even better sound quality.

Directed by Kenny Ortega (Hocus Pocus), the horror-comedy musical follows sweethearts Janet (Victoria Justice, Victorious) and Brad (Ryan McCartan, Liv & Maddie) as they stumble far, far from the beaten track.

Soon the couple are swept into the bizarre world of Dr Frank-N-Furter, a sexually ambiguous and wildly flirtatious mad scientist hosting an event to showcase the birth of Rocky Horror – a muscle-bound specimen created solely to fulfil his every desire.

The talented ensemble cast is led by Emmy Award nominee and Orange is the New Black star Laverne Cox, here taking on the iconic role of Dr Frank-N-Furter - the self-proclaimed "sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania" - originally brought to life by Tim Curry.

This time around the Emmy and Tony Award-nominated star will make an appearance as The Criminologist, while singer and Game of Thrones actor Staz Nair plays Rocky Horror. Also featured are Adam Lambert (American Idol) as ex-delivery boy Eddie and Reeve Carney (Penny Dreadful) as handyman Riff Raff.

Ian Lewis, Group Director, Sky Cinema, commented: "Sky Cinema is all about giving our viewers the very best experience, so to have a brand new production of a beloved classic before anybody else in the UK and Ireland is absolutely brilliant. It sums up the service perfectly. Plus who doesn't love doing The Time Warp?"

The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again is from Fox 21 Television Studios, Ode Sounds & Visuals and The Jackal Group. It is executive-produced by Lou Adler (Grammy Award winner, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and executive producer of the original The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Gail Berman (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Kenny Ortega (Emmy Award-winning director and choreographer). It is based upon the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien with lyrics and music by Richard O'Brien.

With the biggest and best new movies, including a new premiere every day, as well as more pop up channels and improved features, Sky Cinema takes customers one step closer to the cinema experience.
