In June 2003, The Rocky Horror Show rightly acknowledged a huge milestone in it's long history when it celebrated it's 30th Anniversary. A new production of the show by Rocky Horror Company, directed by Christopher Malcom opened in October 2002 and toured into the shows 40th Anniversary year under the subtitle of Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror Big 30 Anniversary Show.

This new production part sponsored by Flares Night Club, with Jonathon Wilkes as Frank and a raft of reality TV and celebratory guest Narrators, veered for some fans, too far into a played-for-laughs party version of the show, while for others it's lighter tone was the perfect dance in the aisles party pick me up celebration.

This official 30th Anniversary production rolled on into 2003 stopping in October 2003, when another official production; this time produced by Newpalm Productions at the Civic Theatre Chelmsford opened on 13th November and ran to 22nd November 2003 for a very brief run, with returning 80s Frank - Richard Kates.

The 30th anniversary celebrations where over all too soon and the fans resigned themselves to another couple of years without their favorite musical. In fact the wait was much longer than expected. Due to behind the scenes complications following the Big 30 production, Christopher Malcom sadly departed the Rocky Horror Company, and the show didn't have another full national tour until 2006 when it reappeared in a radically different form with David Bedella as Frank and Christopher Luscombe at the helm in a stripped back, darker imagining of the show.

But before then there was a little known official version of the show, not produced in the United Kingdom but surprisingly over in the Isle of Man, at the Gaiety Theatre from Friday 9th July to Saturday 24th July 2004. I was lucky enough to go over and see the show and spend some time with the cast backstage.

As 2014 saw the 10th Anniversary of this production I thought I would share with the fans via TimeWarp, my memories of the show and some exclusive never before seen photos of the cast.
