Every now and then you find a little Rocky rarity, sometimes it's a gem of a find, somtimes it's..........the Rocky Horror and Disco Hits Karaoke DVD Basically, it's your run of the mill Karaoke DVD, words overlaid on the screen so you can signalong with your favourite hit. The songs are at best second rate renditions of the originals, but the best (or should that be worst?) bit is the images shown at the same time. This is where it get's really weird, no original footage of the film, show, fans, or anything remotely connected with Rocky Horror at all. The Time Warp gets a set of background images of old things in a house (Time Warp, gedditt!?), shot with a wobbly camera. In fact you can even see a shadow of the cameraman at one point. Sweet Transvestite is shot in a garden, with flowers and ornaments. Maybe they thought it was the name of a flower. who knows? Touch Me (sic) is the strangest of the lot, all we get are shots of beaches and boats, I can't even imagine what the link there can be. This is obviously a way of getting round copyright issues, but the main effect is my twelve year old could create a better version using windows movie makerTM. However as a plus, a few drinks and the backround images become hillarious!
If you want the words projected on the screen to singalong to use the subtitle option on The Rocky Horror Picture Show DVD releases, if you want to singalong use the Sing-It! CD, if you want both, well we'll leave that one to you.
