Rocky Horror Picnic Show 2020 Update It is with deep regret that due to the ongoing health emergency with the Coronavirus and the current government restrictions, the 2020 picnic has had to be cancelled. Oakley Court and TimeWarp have explored every option to try and run the picnic this year but it would just be impossible to guarantee that the event could run in any form. Rather than hold out in the hope that things will change in the next eight weeks, it has been decided that the 2020 event will now have to be cancelled. We know this will be disappointing for everyone that has booked, it was our holiday as well and we are gutted that we will not be able to see everyone this year having run the events for fourteen years in a row. We hope you can all appreciate that these are exceptional circumstances and the decision to cancel has not been something that has been taken lightly. We will be back for the 15th picnic on the 29th August 2021. We are hoping that booking for 2021 will start in a few weeks time. Please wait for us to announce that booking is open before contacting the hotel as they are working with very reduced staff numbers at the moment and will be bringing back more staff to cover bookings for the 2021 picnic when the event is set up on their reservations system. The hotel will be contacting everyone that had a booking for this year as of Tuesday, June 30th, 2020 and those people will get the first option to book for the 2021 event.

Just added. On Friday 19th June there will be a DRIVE-IN screening of the movie at The Pickwick Inn - Wadebridge, Cornwall.

On Friday 24th July, 2020 there will be an outdoor screening at The Scholars Ground, Staffordshire

There will be screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th October at the Shelley Theatre, Bournemouth and these will be on 35mm film

Plus a screening of Shock Treatment on Saturday 21st November at the Shelley Theatre, Bournemouth also on 35mm film

We have several outdoor screenings in the listings as Ali spotted an open air screening in Norwich in August to add to the ones we already have online.

Oakley Court have extended the deadline for guests to cancel without charge to the 30th June while they await more news from government regarding when events can resume. If the picnic is cancelled by the hotel, obviously you will not be charged.

At the moment the hotel are still planning to be open for the event to go ahead on 30th August.
Obviously if the government update their policy yet again this could change, but for now the 2020 picnic is still on.

Please do not listen to/post rumours about the event. If something changes and it cannot go ahead we will let you know, as will Oakley Court.

Believing A Man Can Fly is the new book from Colin Chilvers and Aaron Lam. For those that didn't know, Colin was one of the people that did the special effects for The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The book has some information on the making of our favourite movie.

The Denton Deviants will be celebrating ten years of Shadow Casting with a double bill screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Shock Treatment on Saturday 16th May.

There will also be screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th October at the Shelley Theatre, Bournemouth and these will be on 35mm film

Christopher Nicholas Parsons CBE 10th October 1923 - 28th January 2020

Nicholas Parsons - image © David Freeman 1994 We learnt the sad news last Friday that Nicholas Parsons, much loved by fans for his portrayal of the Narrator, had passed away after a short illness.

This image is from the 21st Anniversary of the show at the Duke of York's Theatre on the 5th July 1994 and it is one I haven't published before today.

We had a chance to see him play the Narrator many times in the show and he had a genuine love for both The Rocky Horror Show and all the fans that went to see it.

He was one of the first Narrators I can remember that was welcomed on to the stage with a round of rapturous applause and he always kept the audience call backs in check whilst still making us laugh. He was famous for his ad-libs causing the show to over-run and some fans learnt to check their watches just in case they had to make a run for it at the end of the performance to catch the last bus or train home.

I had the honour to do a few Rocky related events and tv shows with Nicholas and I can honestly say he was not only one of the most professional actors, but also one of the nicest people, I have ever met. A true Gentleman.
