Re-releasePage updated with re-release information Saturday, September 27th, 2008.

I spotted a CD cover that I hadn't seen before when browsing amazon.com the other day. When my copy arrived I realised that it was in fact a 2008 re-release of the Jason Donovan live recording from the 1998 UK tour.

CDThe main details of the recording are listed below with the original release. This copy differs in the packaging and brochure that is included with the disc.

The brochure is a four page fold-out version rather than the booklet that was included with the original release. While the images are much the same they have been edited down from the larger original release versions to much smaller size. On the plus side this leaves room for three pages of text about The Rocky Horror Show, nicely written by Ian McCann.

Track listings are exactly the same as the original disc and the text acknowledges that this is a re-release. Having said that for the completists out there this is a nice re-release and for those that do not have the original a good way of buying the recording without having to resort to dealer prices for the original release.

CDRecorded over three nights at Norwich, this new CD from Damn It Janet records (order number DAMJAN2CD) features Jason Donovan as Frank 'N' Furter.
The CD is edited down from a full show with some dialogue missing, as the average show is over an hour and a half this seems to be due to the seventy odd minute time restriction CD's have. Personally I do think it's better to have a slightly edited single CD than incur the extra cost and inconvenience of a second disc. The Audience Participation aspect is also somewhat subdued, whether this is deliberately so or due to the fact that the CD was recorded during the week rather than the Friday and Saturday performances we don't know.
Along with the show there are two bonus tracks featuring re-mixes of the TimeWarp. Like some of the additional tracks on the Interactive Rocky Game they tend to grow on you after a few plays. They are certainly far better than the Damien version of the TimeWarp that we had to suffer listen to a couple of years back.

The CD has a small booklet included with around nineteen images from the 1998 touring stage production with Jason Donovan (and even a TimeWarp Fan Club advertisement, thanks guys!)
