Message: Well, the reviews are out.
The New York critics have spoken; and actually, taking into account ROCKY's
original disastrous run on Broadway, as well as much of America's failure to
embrace any ROCKY HORROR that isn't the movie, the current Broadway
reviews (though mixed) aren't nearly as savage as I expected. It sounds like
there's some strange and interesting staging going on with the show too,
beginning with two usherettes (yes, Science Fiction sung as a duet with
both Magenta and Columbia as usherettes, thus allowing Joan Jett to
perform the opening number), and the Phantoms playing members of the
audience for the early scenes to get the talkback started (something the
UK productions don't need to do, of course). Sounds very interesting to me.
Let's hope that this Broadway revival fares better than the show's 1975
New York run, and at least (finally) produces a Broadway cast recording.
We can only hope...

Message: Just to say a huge hello to those who went to Howard's Hallowe'en
gig, wasn't it nice. I can't believe he played Moonage Daydream and Something
for the weekend, such favourite songs of mine . Very hyper still - yes still. For
those who didn't go Joanne Redman (Columbia 94) singing Touch a touch me was
cool and Polly Bowles' version of Wuthering heights sent shivers all round. Russell
was just as sarci as usual and got lots of kisses from girls, Howard was a very suave
lush devil. Now what would've made the night perfect for me would have been if people
I knew had at least deigned to say hello to me. Strangers were far more friendly and a
simple polite hello doesn't take much does it? It's not the first time "Rocky-fan-hierarchy
-snobbery" has poked its slimy head up to try and make people feel inadequate.I mean,
there is more to the world than getting a big head about the amount of times one has
seen a musical. I'm sure this'll get scissored because noone is allowed to bitch, even if
it is true and I'm not the only one who is irritated by other fans' pointless egos.
I am not having a go or trying to start a war but really, isn't the point of "Rocky-Horror
-world" to be nice to other fishnet wearers and at least try to take on the straights.
How can this be done if people try to make other fans feel crap. Personally, it'll take
more than a few evil stares and snide whispers to upset me because I'm used to it
(although I certainly don't expect it from Rockyites), but other people are more paranoid
and easily upset. I'm sorry to winge but I just had to get that out of my system.
Jerry and Unity, if you get to read this...Sorry you weren't at Howard's gig,
sorry about the lack of communication and I hope you are OK!!!

Message: WOW! Caught Night fever last night on channel 5.
There were some people I recognised from the audience of the show!
Why wern't we warned it was on? I only caught it by accident!
The phone hotline said it was going to be updated on Monday 24th
october but it wasn't. It's a bit frustrating when a voice tells you a
date and then it's not updated for nearly a month. Sometimes it
costs me a fortune in phone calls.
