Danny's first steps into broadcasting came in the early 1980s when he joined the team of LWT's Six O'Clock Show. He then went on to present TVAM, alongside Henry Kelly on Saturday mornings. By the early 1990s, he had his own radio show on Radio 5 Live but continued to work on television, presenting his own chat show for BBC1, Danny Baker After All. He went on to present The Big Breakfast, Pets Win Prizes, Fantasy Football League and The Terry and Gaby Show for Channel 5.

Danny moved to BBC Radio 1 in 1993, taking over from Dave Lee Travis but returned to Radio 5 Live in 1996, copresenting with Danny Kelly. A short stint at Virgin Radio followed, presenting the Breakfast Show. Danny joined BBC London in 2001 and won a prestigious Sony Award for DJ of the Year. Other radio includes Drive (BBC London), Hancock's Half Century (BBC7), The Steve Wright Show (Radio 2), Ahoyhoy Danny Saturday Show (BBC London), Morning Edition (Radio 5), Baker and Kelly United (Talk Radio), Baker and Kelly Upfront (Radio 5), Saturday & Sunday with Danny Baker (Radio 1).

Danny has appeared as a guest on numerous programmes and game shows including Have I Got News for You, Shooting Stars, Through the Keyhole and QI. Other TV credits include: for the BBC, FA Cup Final Coverage, Question of Sport, Walking with Giant Killers, Beware the Underdogs, Comic Relief, Match of the 80s, Fantasy Football League, TV Heroes, The Danny Baker Show, Room 101, Wogan and for ITV, Jobs from Hell, Celebrity Squares, This is Your Life, Win Lose or Draw, The Bottom Line.

Danny has numerous television writing credits and also writes a weekly column for The Times newspaper with fellow sports fanatic Danny Kelly. He also appeared in the recent film, Wimbledon (2004).
