Window display, Brighton - Sunday, September 30th, 2018

ChoccyWoccyDooDah
ChoccyWoccyDooDah are famous for their chocolate creations and the amazing window displays they put on at their shop in Brighton. We popped over on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 for a look as we had been told they had a Rocky themed window leading up to Halloween. We'll try and find out when the display is running to for you, but it should be there until Halloween 2018 at least.

They have five huge display items, a Don't Dream It, Be It! cake, Brad and Janet in a frame, Rocky in a frame, the TimeWarp instuctions as a book and Frank himself reclining. All made out of chocolate! (Pretty sure the feather boa's adorning the window were real though).

There was also some smaller Don't Dream It, Be It! hearts on sale in the shop itself.

Stephanie sent the creators a few questions, here is what we learnt..........

Steph: I would love to know who designed each chocolate creation, drawing and making. Are we able to name names? It would be great to credit each image with the names of the folk behind it.

Dave/Captain CreativeCWDD: The entire display was executed and made by DavePop, in our Brighton studio. His actual job title is Captain Creative.

Dave is exhibiting a collection of paintings at the Theatre Royal in Brighton at Christmas, which are all Rocky Horror show inspired. This led to the theatre approaching us about cake, (Dave’s other hat) and I decided to change all our Halloween plans and join the Choccyrockyhorrorshow for October.

Steph: Can you also tell me how long it takes from concept to actual cakes?

CWDD: We (Dave and I) allocated August to pull off getting the chocolate sculptures ready, in between customer commissions and the heatwave. Work did not go to plan, we all kept adding more, we missed our deadline and launched the collection on 17th September. Phew!!

Steph: How long with they be on display in the Brighton store; and when they come out, what do you do with them?

CWDD: The display will be in both shops, Brighton and Covent Garden, until November. The best bits are then going over to the Theatre Royal in Brighton to be placed around the building and add some background to Dave’s exhibition.

Enjoy the photos, and if you get a chance to see it, get on down there soon.
